Illustrated Horror

There's nothing like the illustrated image of horror. It somehow stirs the imagination with excitement and adventure. I've always been attracted to bad films with great names, The Horrors of Spider Island, Zombies of the Underworld, Caverns of the Undead. The graphics and imagery that were used to promote them were extremely exciting, usually painted, and suggested a story far more interesting then the one they were selling.

Maurice Ogden's "The Hangman" Designed by Paul Julian

The Hangman, a rarely seen animated short designed by Paul Julian and co-directed by Paul Julian with Les Goldman, based on Maurice Ogden's classic poem.

Apparently, they used to show this in the public schools. Joe Dante had it featured during Christmas 2008 on his site TrailersFromHell. You won't be able to find it there anymore, so I went searching, and found it on youtube.

My guess is this was originally done in b&w, so ignore the monochromatic aspect.
